Dental X-Rays in Langdon, AB

Dental X-Rays Near You

Dental x-rays are necessary for diagnosing and addressing certain oral health conditions. Before dental surgery, imaging known as cone beam technology, also referred to as a CT scan, is used to detect and assess underlying nerve pathways and soft tissue. At our local clinic, we use both digital x-rays and CT scans to properly treat our patients. Each one emits minimal amounts of radiation, so you can have peace of mind knowing you won’t be put at risk. That said, if you have questions or concerns, our dentist near you can help. Feel free to talk to one of our dentists near you.

Why Might You Need Dental X-Rays?

There are a few reasons why you may need a dental x-ray:

  • Preventative Care: Dental x-rays are often done during routine check-ups so your teeth, gums, and jaw can be examined properly, and any issues identified before they can worsen.
  • Emergencies: X-rays and additional images are needed to help us find the root cause of the problem and recommend the appropriate solution.
  • Oral Surgery: For oral surgeries and more invasive procedures, x-rays and/or CT scans can be advised so we can devise a detailed, minimally invasive treatment plan. Both these services can be done right here in our office.

Who’s a Candidate?

Every patient is a good candidate for dental x-rays. The images that we take emit a very small amount of radiation. Though some may be worried, the benefits of this service far outweigh the minimal level of radiation that you are exposed to.

The frequency of x-rays depends on multiple factors, including previous history of cavities, gum infection, diet, and your personal medical history. But with that said, your dentist in Langdon, AB, will ensure that x-rays are only taken when necessary.

What You Can Expect During Your Appointment

When you come into our clinic for a regular dental x-ray, we will position the x-ray machine at strategic parts of the mouth to ensure we capture quality images. This allows us to view the layers of the tooth and the point where teeth come into contact, an area that is often a resting place for cavities and are difficult to examine without this technology.

If you come see us for a CT scan, you will stand in the middle of a circular machine and be instructed to rest your chin on a chin bar. The machine will circle your head, taking an image of your teeth, mouth, and jaw area.

And that’s it! Both dental x-rays and CT scans only take a few minutes to complete and are painless.
