Sedation Dentistry (Conscious Sedation)

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry allows you to relax during more invasive dental procedures. We offer safe, effective sedation that enables you to remain conscious during your treatment. This is possible with nitrous oxide, which is a sedative gas that helps to put you into a semi-conscious state. This makes it easier to visit the dentist and have the treatment done that is needed.

Why might you need Sedation Dentistry?

You might need or want sedation dentistry because you’re uncomfortable or fearful of visiting the dentist. Sedation is important for more invasive procedures, but it can be utilized for common treatment if you’re nervous about having the work done. Conscious sedation is safe and can be utilized for patients of all ages, including children. We ensure that all sedation is administered safely and professionally so that you only benefit from it.

What makes you a candidate for Sedation Dentistry?

Prior to having any type of sedation administered, we will have a consultation with you. We will go over your health and medical history to ensure that you are a good candidate for conscious sedation. Once we determine if you’re a good candidate, we will create a treatment plan for when and if the sedation will be used. We provide pediatric sedation along with full conscious sedation.

What can be expected with Sedation Dentistry?

You will first come in for a consultation to determine if you’re a safe candidate for sedation. Because we offer many types and levels of sedation, you can feel confident in knowing that it is being administered safely. At the time of your treatment, we will administer the sedation of your choosing. For conscious sedation, you will remain in a semi-conscious state during the procedure so that you can still be aware of what’s going on but be in a calm, highly relaxed state. Sedation is a wonderful option for patients who are otherwise fearful of visiting the dental office.

If you’re interested in sedation dentistry, call our office and we will do everything we can to help answer your questions.
